01 Who this policy covers
NC Productions provides Caffeinated, the iPhone caffeine tracking app developed under the project name Caff-Count. This policy applies to that app and this privacy page. It describes the current app, including optional features when they are available.
The app provides educational wellness estimates. It is not a medical app or medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Caffeine estimates are not measurements of your body or guarantees about sleep or alertness.
02 Information stored on your iPhone
The app stores information you enter or select so it can keep your journal and calculate estimates:
- Drink names, caffeine amounts, serving sizes, portions, shot choices, and the times you start or finish a drink.
- Favorites, custom drinks, and product barcodes with caffeine amounts you have confirmed.
- Goals, usual habits, self-reported sensitivity, caffeine targets, half-life assumptions, sleep schedules, display preferences, and reminder settings.
- Sleep records you choose to log and any energy check-ins saved by an earlier version.
- The time zone associated with a logged drink and internal record identifiers used for editing and saving entries.
Your journal is saved in the app’s storage on your device. Caffeine calculations run on the device. The app does not send this journal to NC Productions, maintain a journal account, or provide its own cloud synchronization service.
The app does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, photo library, HealthKit, or wearable health records. Product pictures are bundled with the app and do not require image requests while you browse drinks.
03 Camera and barcode searches
Camera access is optional and is used to recognize product barcodes. Camera frames are processed on the device; the app does not save or upload those frames. You can enter barcode digits manually or log a drink without scanning.
The app checks locally saved barcode matches and bundled products first. If an online lookup is needed, it sends the barcode to Open Food Facts over HTTPS to request product information. That service also receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, request time, and the app’s request header. Your caffeine journal, goals, and sleep records are not included.
Open Food Facts is a separate, community-maintained service and handles those requests under its privacy policy. Its records may be incomplete or inaccurate. After you confirm and log a scanned drink, the app saves your reviewed product amount locally for future scans. It does not submit your corrections to Open Food Facts.
To avoid online barcode requests, choose a drink from the library or enter a custom amount instead.
04 Premium purchases and trials
When subscriptions are enabled, purchases, eligible free trials, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store. The app receives verified purchase and entitlement information from Apple to determine whether Premium access is active and to restore purchases.
We do not receive your payment-card number or Apple Account password through the app. Apple processes purchase information under its privacy policy. A local preview of a Premium screen does not create a purchase or start a trial.
Deleting your journal or the app does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings.
05 Optional reminders
If you enable reminders and grant notification permission, the app schedules notifications locally on your iPhone using your chosen cutoff time. It does not register with an NC Productions push-notification server. You can switch reminders off in the app or change notification permission in iPhone Settings. Reminder text may appear on your lock screen depending on your iOS settings.
06 Access, export, and deletion
You can review and edit saved drinks in the app. In Settings, use Prepare data export to create a JSON copy of your journal, then choose where to share it. The export can contain drink history, sleep records, preferences, and saved barcode matches. Anyone you share it with may be able to read that information.
Use Settings → About & data → Delete all data to reset the local journal, favorites, custom drinks, saved barcode matches, sleep records, and preferences. This also cancels pending app reminders. Exported files, messages, purchases, and device backups are separate and are not erased by that action.
The app has no journal account to delete. Because NC Productions does not hold your local journal, we cannot retrieve or change it remotely. If you have sent us personal information for support, contact us to request access, correction, or deletion, subject to applicable obligations.
07 Storage, backups, and security
Your local journal remains until you remove entries, reset the app’s data, or delete the app. iOS app offloading may preserve app data. Device backups may include your journal, depending on your Apple settings; a restore may bring previously backed-up records back onto a device. Manage backups and exported copies separately.
The app uses iOS file protection for its journal and HTTPS for online product lookups. Your device passcode and backup settings also affect protection. No device or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
An export creates a temporary file for sharing. The app removes its prepared export when you reset your data or next launch the app. Copies saved elsewhere remain under your control or the recipient’s control.
08 Support and this website
If you contact NC Productions, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request, troubleshoot, and maintain necessary support records. Please avoid sending your full journal or sensitive information unless it is needed for your request.
When you use the Caffeinated support form, your name, email, topic, optional device details, and message are sent to NC Productions through Cloudflare and our email provider, Resend, so we can reply. Our email and website hosting providers process information needed to deliver and protect their services. This policy page has no analytics scripts, advertising, forms, embedded media, or externally loaded fonts. The hosting infrastructure may still process your IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time. Other pages on the NC Productions website may use additional services.
Support information is retained for as long as reasonably needed to address the request and meet applicable obligations. Information we hold may be disclosed where required by law or when necessary to protect rights and security. Third-party providers may process information outside your province or country under the laws where they operate.
09 Children’s privacy
The app is not designed to collect personal information from children through an account or online profile. If a child has sent personal information directly to NC Productions, a parent or guardian can contact us to request its removal. Local journal data is managed on the device as described above.
10 Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the app or our information practices change. The effective date identifies the current version. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where appropriate and obtain consent when required.
